NB3 Foundation Golf Programs
Golf Programs
The NB3 Junior Golf program is building a solid pathway to success and expansion of impact through its strategic approach to building leadership, community and health awareness through the sport. The model program created by the Foundation was developed in the rural Navajo community of To’ Hajiilee, New Mexico and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Through the program, life skills and positive messages are integrated into golf lessons and instruction. The theme of “In golf there are no officials, you have to regulate yourself” is heavily emphasized to parallel the importance of self-commitment to good health and strong leadership.
As the only full-blooded Native American on the PGA Tour, Notah would like to involve as many Native youth as possible in the game of golf. The Foundation strives to provide Native youth with access and opportunities to golf to help them overcome socio-economic barriers that have traditionally prevented their participation in the sport. To this end, the Foundation provides clinics and junior golf programs. Our major goals include:
- Provide a junior golf program that is designed in the image of Native America by Native Americans.
- Provide an introduction to the fundamental skills and the rules of the game.
- Demonstrate how life skills such as honesty, integrity, proper etiquette, and sportsmanship are important components to the game of golf.
- Educate youth about the various academic and career opportunities associated with golf
- Promote leadership development that can carry on to other sports, family, education and community
- The community also organizes a four week summer junior golf program
